Safety Notes On Using Steel Prefab Houses For Builders

A prefab house, also known as prefabricated house, is designed and built for movable and temporary use instead of permanent applications.

Prefab houses are usually made of steel structure, widely used for various applications such as, site office, labor accommodation, warehouse, public toilets, etc. Compared to traditional buildings, prefab houses are more affordable and flexible for temporary building construction.

Generally, prefab houses come in many different types because they are custom built according to the actual site condition. As the steel materials are light, and easy to transport and assemble, prefab houses are suitably located on hillside, riverside, grass land and many other places. Therefore, prefab houses are being increasingly used by lots of construction and house builders.  To prevent accidents when using a steel prefab houses, there are some safety notes for builders to know.

Fire Prevention Is A Must

As we all know, since the building materials of prefab houses are mainly steel plates and foam boards which are all fire-proof rock wool wall boards. Although they have good fire-proof and flame-retardant properties, but this does not mean non-flammability. Therefore, when living in a  prefab house, special attention should be paid to fire prevention. First of all, any welding work should be banned in the prefab house. If you have to do this, please avoid sparks falling on flammable materials which can cause fire accidents. In addition, never use stove for warmth in the winter. It is better to install air conditioner or other safe heater equipment in the prefab houses. Any activity related to open flames must be kept away from the prefab house. Barbecues , fireworks, and other flame activities must be banned surrounding the prefab house. In case of fire accidents, fireproof and fire extinguishing equipment must be installed in each room of the prefab house. Moreover, every construction worker should learn to properly use these fire extinguishing equipment as well.

Never Disassemble the Components

When the construction of prefabricated house is finished, it is not recommended to demolish or rebuild the house. Unlike the traditional house, if some bolt components of the prefab house are removed incorrectly, some serious safety problems would occur. But if you have to add or reduce the partition wall, you’d better to communicate with the manufacturer first to ask for advice before getting the job started.

Install Insulating Equipment For Circuits

The prefab houses are usually composed of light steel components. When installing circuits, cables cannot be placed directly on light steel components. It is necessary to install insulting equipment to avoid electric shock accidents.

Maintain the Steel Components Regularly

The steel components are inevitably prone to the problems like aging, peeling, corrosion over time. Therefore, it is important to regularly do the maintenance such as removing rust, repainting, etc.
